My name is Jessica Carranza and I am an advocate for students and families who speak Spanish. I am proud to be a daughter of an immigrant and I am grateful to have grown up in California in a bilingual home. I feel that my diverse experiences have really helped me connect and understand my students and some of the challenges they are facing in school.  

I live in Santa Rosa with my two amazing children. I currently work as a librarian and am passionate about promoting literacy, community, and art, especially among the youth. I also have a professional background in photography, newspapers, and sustainable agriculture. One of my hobbies is running long distances and I enjoy competing in triathlons and marathons. I have learned a lot about dedication and the sense of accomplishment that comes with setting and completing goals. My hope is to support and guide my students in their educational goals that will lead them to feeling empowered.
